First, just to qualify for the Division I state track meet, he had to run a timed 300-meter hurdles race by himself in the regional, after a competitor was disqualified. He still placed second, after just missing the state last year. Then on the biggest stage Saturday, during the state at Ohio State's Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, Potter and his fellow big-school performers had to wait out a pair of lightning delays totaling over three hours.
