NEWARK -- For the second time in less than a month an early-morning fire destroyed a Newark home, the latest coming early Tuesday in a vacant two-story structure at 46 State St.There was nobody inside the structure and there were no injuries, Newark Fire Department Deputy Chief Doug Vermaaten said. Firefighters fought the fire from the outside, not risking injury to enter a vacant home. The two-story building was a total loss, estimated at $100,000, Vermaaten said. Following the fire, part of the building was knocked down because it was too dangerous for fire investigators to enter the burned-out structure, he said.
